Steve is a native Oklahoman who has spent most of his life in the Rockies and Southwest. He grew up influenced by American Indian culture, Old West values and frontier notions that nothing comes without love of family, commitment to friends, concern for worthy causes and the predictable results of hard work. An above average speller, speaker, athlete and fisherman, Steve graduated from the University of Wyoming with High Honors in Political Science in 1973. These credentials qualified him to interview with State Farm agency recruiters, starting his first in the Four Corners, New Mexico the following year.
